Welcome to the bustling world of Big Y World Class Market, a beloved staple among the small towns of Massachusetts. Located at 62 W Main St, Spencer, MA 01562, this supermarket stands out for its commitment to quality and customer service. As you step inside, you're greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere, enhanced by the friendly demeanor of the staff, who consistently provide a level of service that’s hard to find in today’s grocery landscape.
Big Y is not just a supermarket; it's a community hub. From the deep selection of fresh produce to an array of vegan options, this market caters to diverse dietary needs while satisfying the cravings of its local clientele. Shoppers rave about the quality of its offerings, especially the sushi and poke bowls prepared by their talented chefs. Customer Jay D. highlights the addictive nature of their spicy poke bowls, which are described as “unbelievably fresh tasting and full of flavor.” It's a culinary delight that keeps patrons returning for more.
Another standout feature at Big Y is its self-checkout option, which provides convenience during busy hours. This, coupled with their meticulous focus on cleanliness, creates a pleasant shopping experience. However, it's important to note their policy on paper bags. While they do charge for bags, many customers appreciate this initiative as a step toward environmental responsibility. Customer Amy K. aptly points out, “BRING YOUR OWN; that’s what you’re supposed to do.” This small encouragement toward sustainability aligns with the modern shopper's values.
Customer service receives its fair share of accolades, with Constance T. commenting on the kindness and helpfulness of nearly every employee. It’s rare to witness such exemplary service in grocery stores, and it's this dedication that sets Big Y apart from the rest. Patrons leave not just with their groceries but with a sense of community—a rarity in today's fast-paced retail environment.
Of course, even with remarkable positives, it's crucial to approach Big Y with a discerning eye on pricing. While their prices may be on the higher side, many believe that the quality and exceptional service justify the cost. Jonah C. emphasizes this sentiment: “You get what you pay for.” The value therein goes beyond mere transactions; it’s an experience worth every penny.
If you’re in the Spencer area, make a trip to Big Y World Class Market. Discover the unique flavors, enjoy the attentive service, and become part of a community that values quality, sustainability, and kindness.

Big Y is a staple supermarket for a lot of the small towns surrounding it. They have almost everything you need for food and vegan options. The only thing that is a little crappy is the fact you pay for paper bags, otherwise you bring your own. It's not the worst thing in the world but it's a small inconvenience. Their self checkout option makes their service easy during heavy business hours. Prices are high but you get what you pay for. Overall a good experience.

This review is specifically for the sushi chef: we have become addicted to the spicy poke bowls. They are unbelievably fresh tasting and full of flavor. Who knew that Big Y sushi and poke bowls could be what hits the spot every time!

Lol the people complaining that they charge for paper bags - BRING YOUR OWN that's what you're supposed to do. They actually encourage you to care about the environment. I love shopping here, very clean and very friendly staff!

I think almost every employee they have in the store manages to have such a sweet an intuative way they provide customer service. They are all so kind and helpful! I always find it hard to believe that a grocery store can so successfully train their staff to have such a high level of customer service! You don't find this kind of behavior in most grocery stores, especially in most cities.....Kudos Big Y!
